Redistricting

Redistricting is the process of redrawing the boundaries of districts from which public officials are elected and must occur every ten years per the Virginia Constitution. At the beginning of each decade, after receipt of the federal decennial census state results, which provides the demographic and geographic data needed to redraw the districts, the legislature convenes to act on redistricting legislation. The Virginia Redistricting Commission website interface provides a simple and intuitive resource and information on the process.
