Accessibility

The Capitol is fully accessible to visitors with special needs. The Capitol and its underground extension have wheelchair accessible restrooms, ramps and elevators, and there is barrier-free access from the extension to the original 1788 Capitol and the 1906 legislative wings.

Accessible drop off at the Capitol is available at the Bank Street entrance (1000 Bank Street, Richmond, VA). Drivers can enter Bank Street via 12th or 14th Street, pull up to the Capitol Visitor Entrance, unload passengers, and continue to their parking destination. Pick-up can happen in the same manner at the end of a visit.

Accessible drop off at the GAB is available on 10th Street between the GAB and Old City Hall. Drivers can enter 10th Street via Broad Street, pull up to the Capitol Police guard house and let the officer on duty know they are dropping off a person with mobility limitations. Drivers may unload passengers here, and then continue to their parking destination. Pick-up can happen in the same manner at the end of a visit.
