Visiting The Capitol

Statuary & Artifacts – Discover the life-size marble statue (Houdon Statue) of George Washington in the Rotunda, along with the Governor’s Gallery’s portrait collection and historic items like the ceremonial Mace in the Old House area.

Composite Photographs of the General Assembly – Composite Photographs are a visual record for membership of the Virginia General Assembly through time. Governors, leadership of the Assembly and its members can be seen in these archival photographs. The Library of Virginia has compiled an online collection of these composite photographs. Virginia House of Delegates and Senate of Virginia composite photographs are located along the first floor hallway in the historic Capitol.
