ADA Accommodations

Access: The Capitol and General Assembly Building are fully ADA accessible, and anyone can enter the Capitol through the Bank Street entrance. The GAB can be accessed via the Capitol tunnel or via the public entrance to the GAB at 9th and Broad Streets.

The Capitol and its underground extension have wheelchair accessible restrooms, ramps, and elevators, and there is barrier-free access from the extension to the original 1788 Capitol and the 1906 legislative wings.

Accessible drop off at the Capitol is available at the Bank Street entrance (1000 Bank Street, Richmond, VA). Drivers can enter Bank Street via 12th or 14th Street, pull up to the Capitol Visitor Entrance, unload passengers, and continue to their parking destination. Pick-up can happen in the same manner at the end of a visit.

In addition, private vehicles with handicap placards or plates can unload visitors and park on Bank Street near the public entrance at 10th Street. Five parking spaces zoned for handicapped drivers are located on the north side of Bank Street, between 10th and 12th streets, with a two-hour limit.
